For years, we’ve supported SAML and SSO to give users a simple and secure way to log into the xMatters platform. To stay up-to-date with these technologies, we've made some significant updates to our Android mobile app.
What do you need to know?
The latest version of our Android app contains some important SAML and SSO updates to help us continue to achieve the highest possible security standards. To ensure uninterrupted service to your xMatters Android mobile app, we strongly recommend updating your app to the latest version (available now in the Google Play store) as soon as possible.
As we stop supporting older versions, users who don't update will no longer be able to log into the app to respond to notifications, check their on-call schedule, or review their messages.
What about iOS and the web UI?
Although this update doesn't affect iOS or browser users, we still highly recommend always keeping your mobile apps and browsers updated to the most recent versions to take advantage of the latest features, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
What is SAML and SSO?
Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is a well-established open security standard, designed to create a common way for users to securely login to a service. SAML is the key technology that enables Single Sign-On (SSO), which is an authentication tool that lets users log into multiple software systems with a single username and password combination. Both SAML and SSO are popular methods for providing secure and convenient authentication mechanisms across enterprise software environments.
