End-of-life notice: Internet Explorer support

Microsoft officially stopped supporting Internet Explorer 11 for Teams on November 30, 2020, and the remaining Microsoft Office 365 products and all other Microsoft services will follow suit after August 17, 2021.

With this in mind, it's also time for us to bid farewell to IE 11. And, given that IE 11 is the official end of the line for Internet Explorer, we'll be saying goodbye to all versions.

What does this mean?

Unless you're one of the rapidly diminishing number of people still using Internet Explorer, nothing!

If you're attached to the venerable browser, you will still be able to access the xMatters web user interface using IE 11, but you may find that some features are not supported, some pages may not display properly, and the overall user experience may be less than optimal.

We encourage you to explore one of the more modern browser options available. The xMatters web user interface is fully supported on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and the latest versions of Microsoft Edge (Edge Legacy is not supported).

Why are we doing this?

We have a responsibility to our customers and users to ensure that we're providing a secure, top-notch user experience with the most up-to-date technology. By dropping support for Internet Explorer, we can eliminate the time we need to spend on testing and devising workarounds for older technology, and focus on improving security, usability, and access.

When is this happening?

Here's our timeline:

  • The upcoming Lunar Lander release will be the last xMatters release to officially support Internet Explorer 11.
  • We will continue to test and support existing features on Internet Explorer until the Missile Command release (tentatively scheduled for July/August 2021).
  • Features developed after Lunar Lander will not be tested or supported on Internet Explorer.
