Introduction
We're hard at work on our next quarterly release, Tetris, which will be rolling out in the Sep/Oct 2023 timeframe. Please follow this article and its comments to receive updates throughout the quarter about new features and functionality that we're working on for the Tetris release.
Customers interested in previewing new features before they're released can opt into our Early Access Program (EAP), which delivers new features into non-production environments as they're rolled off the assembly line.
We'll also use this document to capture highlights of additions and updates to our mobile platforms and the xMatters REST API.

New endpoints: OAuth 2.0 (Authorization Code) & Token
Availability: Early Access Program
We're excited to announce that if you're enrolled in our Early Access Program, you can now take advantage of these two new endpoint types:
OAuth 2.0 (Authorization Code)
This enhancement enables seamless integration with Authorization Code Flow, a widely recognized and secure method for user, application, and system authentication. In addition to simplifying integrations with new systems, it empowers users to craft custom versions of built-in endpoints such as Microsoft Graph API with custom permission scopes for enhanced security.
Token
The Token endpoint enables integration with systems using a static token or API key for authentication. This improves security by eliminating the need for individual steps to manage authentication processes. It also supports configuration of authentication and custom headers, including a token header and additional headers such as account or organization IDs when required.
Add a comment to any ServiceNow record type
Availability: Early Access Program
We've just released an updated version of the ServiceNow Add Comment step to the Early Access Program. You can use this step to add a comment to any existing ServiceNow record type that supports comments. Simply configure the new 'Table' input to specify the ServiceNow record table where you want to add the comment.
If adding the comment isn't successful, rest assured that the step won't fail and stop the flow—instead, the flow will continue and a new 'Add Comment' output will indicate if adding the comment was successful (true) or unsuccessful (false).

'Due' more with tasks
You can now set incident tasks to be due relative to incident initiation or incident resolution. For example, you could create a task to notify stakeholders five minutes after the incident is initiated and another task to update a status page one minute after the incident was resolved.
You'll find these two new options the next time you set a relative due date for your tasks:
Recipientless automations
Your automations don't need to have recipients...unless you want them to! You now have the option to remove the Recipients section from Flow Trigger forms. This means when you run an automation that doesn't require recipients, you won't be presented with the option to add them—or be warned that you haven't added any.

ServiceNow (Flow Designer) workflow
The frequently requested ServiceNow (FlowDesigner) workflow is now available. This built-in workflow uses the xMatters for ServiceNow app (versions 5.5 and above) with a new trigger and steps to seamlessly connect your ServiceNow records and processes into xMatters Flow Designer—right out of the box!
If it's your first time integrating xMatters with ServiceNow, we recommend you start with this new built-in ServiceNow (Flow Designer) workflow. However, if you want to build your own custom workflow or upgrade an existing workflow to use Flow Designer, then you may be interested in the following new trigger and step.
ServiceNow 5.x trigger
To build your own custom workflow from scratch, add our new ServiceNow 5.x trigger to your flow canvas and connect the steps you need for your incident and record management processes.
ServiceNow 5.x trigger |
ServiceNow 'Send Integration Update' step
We've designed a new Send Integration Update step to connect cloud-to-cloud xMatters for ServiceNow integrations to Flow Designer. Add this step to your flow to update ServiceNow records without having to rebuild your existing integration.
Send Integration Update Sends an update to ServiceNow via the xMatters integration (requires version 5.5 or later). Any inputs excluded from the request retain their current values and are not overwritten by the update. |

- Enrollment in EAP can be turned on any time through a support request.
- Exiting EAP can only be done on quarterly boundaries (you cannot opt in and out between quarterly releases).
