Heads up, xPerts! If you have a Slack integration with xMatters, make sure you have Version 2 of the xMatters app for Slack to access the latest features and updates available.
Version 1 of the xMatters app for Slack is being decommissioned after August 31, 2023. That means that if you still have V1 of the app, you will no longer be able to use xMatters features on Slack after August 31. Thankfully, upgrading your app to V2 only takes a few clicks!
Not sure which app version you have or if you even have it installed? Here’s how to check:
- Log into Slack as an admin user.
- On the left menu, look for Apps, then select Add apps.
- If the xMatters app is on your Apps page, that means you already have the app in your Slack workspace. If not, search for ‘xMatters’ then click Add to install it—newly installed apps are already up to date!
- To check if your existing app needs to be updated, go to the Home tab of the app and look for a message indicating that the permissions are out of date. If you don't see it, you're all good! If your bot is out of date, click the Add to Slack button to install the latest version.
And that’s it! Once you have V2 of the app, you can keep using bot commands to quickly find teams, see who is on call, and invite team members to a public Slack channel. With the xMatters app, you can also initiate xMatters incidents and receive xMatters notifications completely within Slack!
