xMatters is pleased to announce an update to our integration with Nagios.
Nagios is an open source monitoring system used to monitor of mission-critical infrastructure components – including applications, services, operating systems, network protocols, systems metrics, and network infrastructure.
Version 2 of our integration has been updated to use the xMatters On-Demand REST API. This removes any dependencies on your mail servers to ensure notifications are sent to the right people at the right time in the event that Nagios detects any issues in your infrastructure.

Installing the Nagios communication plan
Login to the xMatters user interface and navigate to the Developer > Manage Communication Plans > Import Plan.
Import the Nagios communication plan (attached to this page).
Click the checkbox to enable the Plan:
Click Edit > Forms to view the available forms. Then for both Host Notifications and Service Notifications, click Access Web Service URL and note for reference later:
Create an integration user
Create a new user that will inject events from Nagios into xMatters and grant them the "REST Web Service User" role.
Note: If you are installing this integration into an xMatters trial instance, you don't need to create a new user. Instead, locate the "Integration User" sample user that was automatically configured with the REST Web Service User role when your instance was created and assign them a new password.
In the following example, the integration user is "nagiosxi"
Next, for each form, click Permissions and add the integration user:

Login to the Nagios XI user interface and navigate to Admin > Manage Components:
On the Manage Components screen, select the xmatters.zip file and click Upload Component:
The xMatters Event Handlers component will appear:
Click on the config icon to update the connection settings:
Add the appropriate information noted above. Note, this example shows the recipient as a group called "NagiosAdmins"
