We’re excited to announce our lastest patch release for 5.0, and it is a FAST one. The patch provides the usual collection of bug fixes (for details, see xMatters 5.0 patch 007 Release Notes) as well as a few features including a new veritable super-highway for clients upgrading from 4.1 to 5.0.
5.0 Migration - Speed!
5.0.7 is our last planned enhancement to the xMatters Data Migrator used to migrate from 4.1 to 5.0. The migration tool now leverages the use of database links to greatly increase performance (i.e. reduce downtime). The best way to get up to speed on the migration process is to read our KBA: Migrating from 4.1 to 5.0
Our typeahead system has been so effective in other parts of the system our UXperts (that's "usability xPerts") rolled it into our Users->Find Users panel. Now you can quickly find the exact user you want in the system using the typeahead or if you are old school you can still get to the "Advanced User Search".
FindGroups Web Service
Finding groups is clearly an important function, so not only did we improve our UI, we also improved our SOAP web service FindGroups. The web service now accepts an options "allowWildcards" parameter which when set "true" allows you to pass in "%" or "_" wildcard operators.
Upgraded JVMs for Nodes/Web Servers
Java 6 will be going into a reduced support state in 2013 so we are moving to the latest and greatest Java 7 JVM. Initially there are no changes to report in functionality or speed, but we will see if there are any new tricks we want to leverage as we move forward.
These are the main new features in this release, but please check out the full release notes for all of the details on these features as well as a few others. We hope you enjoy the new release!
Until the next update,
The xMatters Team
