How do I change the JVM memory settings for xMatters Nodes and web servers?

The following instructions include steps to modify the JVM memory settings on xMatters web servers and nodes; apply the steps appropriate for your operating system:

Unix Systems

  1. Navigate to the root xMatters installation folder.
  2. Open one or both of the following files in a text editor: webserver.sh or node.sh
  3. To change the min memory, find an entry similar to: MINMEM=256m
  4. Specify the initial size, in bytes, of the memory allocation pool (this value must be a multiple of 1024 greater than 1MB). Append the letter k or K to indicate kilobytes, or m or M to indicate megabytes (default value is 256MB).
  5. To change the max memory, find an entry similar to: MAXMEM=1024m
  6. Specify the maximum size, in bytes, of the memory allocation pool (this value must be a multiple of 1024 greater than 2MB). Append the letter k or K to indicate kilobytes, or m or M to indicate megabytes (default value is 1024MB).
  7. Save the file or files.
  8. Restart the process or processes.

Windows Systems

  1. Navigate to the root xMatters installation folder.
  2. Open one or both of the following files: common/webserver-start.conf or common/node-start.conf
  3. To change the min memory, find an entry similar to: -Xms256m
  4. Specify the initial size, in bytes, of the memory allocation pool (this value must be a multiple of 1024 greater than 1MB). Append the letter k or K to indicate kilobytes, or m or M to indicate megabytes (default value is 256MB).
  5. To change the max memory, find an entry similar to: -Xmx1024m
