Life moves fast, especially when an incident occurs! For teams that are constantly moving, the xMatters mobile app has long been an invaluable tool that allows teams to review and manage their resolution processes even when they’re out of office.
After talking with customers, we’re very excited to introduce a fresh new look for our both our iOS and Android app interfaces with our Ultima release. This updated design better reflects the web application, so if you’re used to working with xMatters on your computer, you’ll notice a much more consistent experience when transitioning to the mobile app on your devices.
Most notably, we’ve improved our menu system to surface the most important features for resolution teams. Both the Android and iOS apps now feature the same menu options, so users have the same experience regardless of which app they use, making it easier for internal training and if users switch devices. For Android, the new bottom menu allows for quick access to your most used tasks, ('Inbox', 'Messaging', 'Schedule', and 'Reports). For iOS, we've added a side menu that includes options you’ll recognize from the web application (such as the 'Users' and 'Groups' tabs which work as shortcuts to those tabs on the existing Contacts screen).
We always recommend using the most up to date version of the xMatters app to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible, but, we get it—checking to see if you need an update can sometimes fall to the bottom of the priority list! To make sure you don't experience any downtime while using the app, we've added in-app notifications to let you know about any critical information (such as if you're using a version of the app that may no longer be supported after a certain date).
The Accounts screen has received an update as well and includes a new colour picker so you can customize the appearance of your account icons, allowing you to easily identify and switch between your different xMatters accounts.
A better experience for bigger screens
We know lots of our customers use iPads, tablets, and larger phones, which is why we’ve improved the mobile app design for larger devices. Now, to make it easier to respond with one hand, responses can be found at the bottom of the screen.
