xMatters bot for MS Teams: Add a "Find user" command

Not Yet Reviewed

Currently, the xMatters bot for MS Teams can search for group names using the "find" command. It is also possible to invite specific users using "invite <username>."

It would be useful for us to also have a "find user" command that searches first names / last names and returns matching users. It would also be nice if it showed what groups each returned user is a member of.

  • Hi Michael,

This sounds like an interesting idea. I started asking some questions internally to see if I can get some feedback about adding something like this in. Can you walk us through what the purpose or use case behind doing this would be? Why would you not just request a user to join via Teams directly? And what is the benefit of knowing what groups a returned user from xMatters belongs to? We want to let our Product Management know about these kinds of requirements so having verbiage coming from you along those lines would be quite helpful.
