1. What is the business purpose or requirement that drives this request?

I want to be able to view my xMatters on-call schedule from within my Google Calendar.

2. What's the impact of the issue? 

It is difficult and annoying for users to have to check their xMatters schedule in addition to their default Outlook/Google/whatever calendar.  Most scheduling apps allow a user to subscribe via their main calendar. 

3. What part of the product does this relate to?

User/group calendar management.

4. Does this involve an integration?

Not yet.  There's a Zapier integration, but it seems to only handle events, not schedules.

    We do have an active enhancement (PM-4191) which reads as follows:

    Customer would like to be able to publish a groups monthly calendar to Oulook/Google Calendar.

    Others offer this today. You can download an oncall calendar to .ics file or use webcal protocol.

    Simple right? We have a good number of customers already asking for this so I would be glad to add your company name to this for you.

    We also  have mention of an enhancement to export the who's on call calendar to an ical file for import into Outlook (PM-4474) which we're working on:

    Our customers thought it would be great if they could export the on call schedule to ical format so it could be imported into google calendar or something

    We can add you to one or both of these if you would like. If you feel your request is different let us know so we can work out the specifics with you!

  • Francois, I would like this feature as well.  I worked with Pager Duty at another job, and I was able to do something where I could get a link to the calendar and add it to my Outlook calendar.  I don't remember if it was iCal or something else, but as the schedule changed, so would my calendar.  It was extremely helpful for scheduling, so I knew when I was on call, vs others in my team.  Would you please add me to these enhancement requests.  Is there a way I can see enhancement requests?

  • We really need this feature as well. We have a large IT department that leverages this feature currently in PagerDuty and its a huge loss of convenience as we are now switching over to xMatters.

    Teams also often sync their on call rotations to Confluence to easily using the "WebCal feed" to see the on-call schedule and how this overlaps with important upcoming events (business events, tech changes etc).

    Is there a workaround for this?

  • Hi Ihsaan, your company is on the list for these enhancements and at this point there is no way to export the schedule or sync with Outlook etc...

    There is an on-call reminder feature to notify people when they will be on call and you can find information about that here:

    Users also can see their on-call shifts via the app and the who's on call report. Features to tie into Outlook and other calendars is being reviewed. Hope that covers the existing workarounds!

  • Hi Francois,

    Can you add us as well?  Engineers, especially when new to the system, tend not to adopt the xmatters app right away.  So, while extremely useful in the app, some people just need an old school calendar invite or email reminder!  I know we can build integrations for this but it'd be nice to have it set up as a user setting.

    I have sort of the same request.. 
    We have our Xmatters in the cloud and we would like to provide to people who don't have access a roster for who is on call per team. 

    So an export of the who is on call automated would be awesome.

    Just in case you did not know, we can also call up the on-call shifts via our API which has an On-Call endpoint and an On-Call Summary endpoint. You could devise your own page to show the on-calls to others who need it using an authenticated request by a user who has access to this API.

    We are still evaluating this feature so keep checking back each major release!

  • We're looking for this one as well.  We have integrations in which post into our chat channels but it's not the same as having the calendar view.

  • Hello, can you please add athenahealth to this enhancement request?  This would be _extremely_ helpful for us to be able to look at our scheduling at-a-glance rather than needing to reference multiple applications and adding calendar entries manually.

  • Our team certainly appreciates the feedback and interest on all feature requests. As outlined in this subject article, our PM team constantly review and evaluate client requests. Also, we've verified that this enhancement request includes all interested parties from this thread.

    As far as this request is concerned, it's a great idea but we do not have any ETA at this time. However, we are currently working on OnCall Management features in the product and evaluating various oncall features including this one. As we are preparing research activities and evaluating features, we'd love to connect with folks to explore these topics.

    As far as this request is concerned, it's a good idea but we do not have any ETA at this time. We are planning to look at User Schedules later this the year, and we'd love to connect with our users on this area.

    Sounds like you are interested in subscribing your user schedule. Would a calendar export also work in your case?
