The way I understand how Nagios alerts fire to xmatters based on host groups.
So an example would be security has 4 servers or applications being Monitored in Nagios,
- The host group would be security in Nagios, those 4 servers would be in that host group.
- To make xmatters page the on call for security, you would need the group name to match the host group in nagios.
The above scenario works as planned.
Security grows, has multiple applications, but limited staff, meaning not everybody is familiar with all the applications. We now have to build multiple schedules for on call in the xmatters group security.
If we want an alert to fire off and go to a specific Group with a specific Shift within that group is this possible?

Hey William,
Yea, so you can't target any of the entities directly in a group, but you could do a couple of things instead:
Do you have any values in the payload from Nagios that might help route things, or is this based on tribal knowledge?
Happy Thursday!
