A question for xMatters API users/aficionados

Not Yet Reviewed

Hey all!

We're in the process of reviewing our current xMatters REST API documentation - don't worry, it's not going away anytime soon - and we started wondering about the code samples we include.

As I'm sure you're all aware, we provide code samples in cURL, Python, and JavaScript (the Integration Builder-specific kind), but we wanted to make sure that we were meeting YOUR needs as users of the resource.

So we're asking for your feedback!

  • How helpful are the languages/code samples we provide?
  • Which samples/language do you use the most?
  • Are there other languages that you wish we had?
  • Should we drop one of the existing ones - like Python?
  • Are there any other changes to the REST API help you'd like to see?

(I should note that I can't do much about adding endpoints or functionality to the API itself - not exactly my forte, I'm afraid. But any comments or suggestions about the documentation are welcome.)

Thanks!

  • Hey Johnny,

This is not PHP, but there is a nice Postman project here that covers the entire set of xMatters REST APIs in our xMatters Labs repo on github.

  • I would like to see the Python examples be updated to Python 3 since Python 2 is close to retirement.

  • How helpful are the languages/code samples we provide?

    • I know enough Python to convert for my needs and language use, these examples helped figuring out connecting API.

Which samples/language do you use the most?

    • I like to see some C# examples. But I used the Python examples.

Are there other languages that you wish we had?

    • C#
