Dial an extension after phone number

How do I reach someone that requires an extension be dialed after dialing the area code and phone number? Seems like a basic requirement but the My Voice Device Details screen has nothing.

  • Extension dialing requires a per company setup due to the wide variety of PBX's. It has to be turned on for you company (by either a your Client Success Manager, or somebody in your organization setup as a Company Supervisor) and then you have to provide settings for:

    • Extension Dial Delay - the time after initial call pickup to dial the extension.
    • Initial Prompt Delay - the time after dialing an extension that xMatters should begin prompting the user to hear their message.
    • Delay After Prompt - the time to wait after prompting before either prompting again executing voicemail behavior.
    • Number of Prompts - how many times to play the prompt before executing voicemail behavior.

    Once enabled, an extension field will show up for any phone device. And when dialed, phones with extensions will first have their base phone number dialed, on pickup the system will wait for the Extension Dial Delay before dialing the extension, then wait for the Initial Prompt Delay, then play the prompt, then wait the Dial After Prompt Delay, and then if the number of prompts is greater than 1 it will continue prompting and then delaying until all of the prompts are exhausted.

  • One other note... we have added extension support to our conference dial process in the Winter Release. Now you really can't hide from a Find You Conference!
