We're hard at work on our next quarterly release, Xenon, which will be rolling out in the Sept/Oct 2024 time frame.
Please follow this article and its comments to receive updates throughout the quarter about new features and functionality that we're working on for the Xenon release. We'll also use this document to capture highlights of additions and updates to our mobile platforms and the xMatters REST API.
For a list of changes made in each deployment that aren't covered in the Development Highlights, see the support notes included below each highlight. While most features will be added to production environments as part of our quarterly releases, the support notes typically describe fixes, which can sometimes affect product behavior.
Release schedule
Here are the dates we're expecting the release to be available:
-
Non-production environment access: Tuesday, September 24, 2024
- Production environment access: Tuesday, October 22, 2024
Customers interested in previewing new features before they're released can opt into our Early Access Program (EAP), which delivers new features into non-production environments as they're rolled off the assembly line.

This feature allows you to create a new meeting or add a URL link to an existing meeting, and configure the name and description, so resolvers can easily identify and immediately access the meeting.
Look for this feature in production instances with the Xenon release!

Microsoft Teams channels for playbooks
Clear communication is key to resolving incidents as quickly and efficiently as possible. Now customers with EAP and non-production instances can add new or existing Microsoft Teams channels to playbooks (with Microsoft Teams meetings and Slack channels coming soon). Adding collaboration channels to your playbooks ensures that teams always know exactly how to connect to their colleagues, without needing to maintain the logic separately in Flow Designer.
Look for this feature in production instances with the Xenon release!
Share a link to your schedule
Also available in EAP and non-production instances, you can now share a link to a live version of your calendar. Unlike the ICS download file, this calendar auto-updates daily, giving anyone you share it with an up-to-date view of your upcoming shifts.

Notify task assignees
Tasks allow teams to keep on top of what needs to be done during an incident—but how does a team member know when they've been assigned a task? Now, when you add a task in xMatters (or reassign it to another resolver) you have the option to 'Notify Assignee'. When enabled, the assignee will automatically be notified when they've been assigned a new task and any time it's updated.
This feature is currently available in Early Access Program (EAP) instances.

About the early access delivery process
Customers can choose to opt their non-production environments into an Early Access Program (EAP) to see new functionality before it's released. If you're considering signing up for the early access program, there are a couple of important things to know:
- Enrollment in EAP can be turned on any time through a support request.
- Exiting EAP can only be done on quarterly boundaries (you cannot opt in and out between quarterly releases).
For full details, refer to the official xMatters Deployment Process & Early Access article.
