We're now hard at work on our next quarterly release, Firebird, which will be rolling out in the September/October 2026 time frame.
Please follow this article and its comments to receive updates throughout the quarter about new features and functionality that we're working on for the Elemental release. We'll also use this document to capture highlights of additions and updates to our mobile platforms and the xMatters REST API.
For a list of changes made in each deployment that aren't covered in the Development Highlights, see the support notes included below each highlight. While most features will be added to production environments as part of our quarterly releases, the support notes typically describe fixes, which can sometimes affect product behavior.
Release schedule
Here are the dates we're expecting the release to be available:
- Non-production environment access: Tuesday, September 22, 2026
- Production environment access: Tuesday, October 20, 2026
Customers interested in previewing new features before they're released can opt into our Early Access Program (EAP), which delivers new features into non-production environments as they're rolled off the assembly line.

Feature Spotlight on automated incident updates in Flow Designer
Manually keeping collaboration channels up to date can take time and increase the risk of important information being missed. With automated incident updates in Flow Designer, you can configure collaboration channels to receive real-time incident updates automatically, helping teams stay on top of important changes while they focus on incident resolution. When configuring a Slack or Microsoft Teams collaboration channel in Flow Designer, you can enable automated incident updates to send specific incident changes (such as status and severity) directly to the channel.
August 10 - 14, 2026
Flow Designer workflows: sort by creation date
You can now sort the Flow Designer workflow list by creation date, making it easier to find recently created workflows.

New Relic Acknowledge and Close Issue step
Flow Designer now includes a New Relic Acknowledge and Close Issue step which supports changes to how New Relic handles incidents and issues, as well as updates to its API. You can use the new step to acknowledge and close New Relic issues directly from your workflows.
Launch Critical Event step supports template variables
The latest version of the Everbridge Flow Designer Launch Critical Event step now supports templates that contain variables. You can select these templates when configuring the step, and their variables are displayed as inputs so you can provide the required values directly in Flow Designer.
xMatters iOS app v5.21 and xMatters Android app 4.19
On August 4, we released the latest versions of our mobile apps on the App Store and Google Play Store. We've enhanced the mobile alerts experience so you can add comments, join conference calls, and open associated links during or after responding to an alert. These actions are available directly from the alert details, making it easier to view the full context of an alert, including previous responses, without switching between different pages.
Flow Designer updates
Our latest updates to Flow Designer make it easier to manage your workflows and scheduled triggers. The workflow list page now displays the Creation Date and Creator for each flow. You can also configure Scheduled trigger intervals in minutes (with a minimum interval of 15 minutes) giving you additional flexibility when scheduling workflows that run frequently.
ServiceNow Data Sync group admin mapping
ServiceNow Data Sync can now map group admins from ServiceNow to xMatters, giving you more control over how group admins are assigned during synchronization. You can choose which ServiceNow field the admin value comes from and assign only the designated default xMatters group admins, assign both mapped and default group admins, or use the mapped group admin and fall back to the default admins if the mapped value is invalid.
July 27 - 31, 2026
Feature Spotlight on resolver group tracking
The Active Incidents section on a Group Overview page includes incidents where the group is listed as a resolver, as well as incidents involving services it owns. This gives supervisors and stakeholders a more complete picture of the group's current responsibilities.
To help identify potential coverage gaps, the Groups list page also includes warning indicators that highlight when a group may be unable to respond to alerts. In addition to existing checks, these indicators identify groups with no shifts configured, shifts without any members, and shifts where members do not have notifiable devices. This helps teams identify and address coverage issues before they affect incident response.

About the early access delivery process
Customers can choose to opt their non-production environments into an Early Access Program (EAP) to see new functionality before it's released. If you're considering signing up for the early access program, there are a couple of important things to know:
- Enrollment in EAP can be turned on any time through a support request.
- Exiting EAP can only be done on quarterly boundaries (you cannot opt in and out between quarterly releases).
For full details, refer to the official xMatters Deployment Process & Early Access article.
