Custom notification sounds missing in app on Motorola G7 Power

Not Yet Reviewed

I used the custom notification sounds available in the xMatters app on my last phone, a Samsung Galaxy Note 5. But when I go to Settings > Notification Settings on my new Motorola G7 Power, it directs me to go to System Settings for the sounds. But there is no option to configure the sounds in System Settings.

Has anyone else faced this problem?

  • Hi Michael,

In newer versions of Android, the notification settings for the xMatters app are accessed from your device's system settings. We've got an article that explains how to set things up: https://support.xmatters.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015426272 (with a special note about custom sounds at the bottom of the article).

In a nutshell, when you go to Notification Settings in the xMatters app, you can toggle on "Enable Custom Sounds" to install the xMatters sounds on your device. Beneath that (still in the app), tap System Settings to go to your device's system settings for xMatters. From here, can tap on each notification channel (High priority event, Low priority event, or Medium priority event) to set the sound for each notification category. Scroll down in the list of your sounds to find the xMatters custom sounds that you installed.

  • Thanks Karla. I thought the notification channels were just checkboxes, I didn't realize I could drill into each of them to set the sound.
