Hide All Devices from Senders

Not Yet Reviewed

Background - we have a consistent configuration where each user has a "work email" and that's always the device we want senders to target.

Problem - for senders, in the Recipients section, they see a "duplicate" entry for each user because they are getting the general user (person icon) row along with email row. It works either way, but it is just extra noise.

Is there any way to hide the email device and just show the general user row on the Recipients section? I have looked into form options and profile options and I do not think it is possible.

The reason this is nice is not only to cut the list in half, but to be able to configure the system so that senders don't have to think about or worry about which devices the recipients have. (This is already the case with picking the general "person icon" choice, but removing the other choices makes it crystal clear)

  • I'm also interested in this option, the last time I looked (last year) I couldn't find a way to do this

  • This is an interesting problem Charles, we can look at whether or not hiding all user device info from those users could be a potential way around this but there isn't a super elegant product feature yet to not include user devices as searchable options. I'll give this a try in a test environment and follow up if it is a viable control mechanism.

That said would hiding user device information from those users be an issue? Other areas it would impact are:

Groups > open the group to view the overview details > see the current rotation > click on a user to see their details
    User profile > Devices

Also - thanks Sean for your vote for this option!

  • Hi Francois. The product enhancement PM-4728 sounds better than what I was asking for...because it is good to be able to pick a specific device if you really need to. Very nice.

  • I also feel that the enhancement request would greatly help avoid accidentally selecting a user's device.

On a related note, I looked at the recipients search option of users instead of all and while it would also help achieve our goal it isn't possible to make that the default search option over "All". Making it moot for our purposes.

I can't speak for others, but our goal is to guide/steer users to selecting users rather than devices. So the default behavior is key for us.
