How can I subscribe to all events sent to a xMatters group

Not Yet Reviewed

I know I can set up a subscription form for a communication plan. I want to be able to specify in a subscription the recipient as a criteria item, but I don't see it as one of the properties. How can I create a subscription that filters events based on what xMatters group(s) receive the event?

  • Hi Stephen,

Would this Subscription be against a form that is initiated via an integration or manually initiated?

  • Hi Jordan,

It would be manually initiated via the web or mobile.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Stephen,

For now, that's going to be a manual process whereby you will need to add a new Property to the Layout of the form, and manually enter the Recipient into that field as well when you initially populate the form.  You can then create a Subscription Form that includes that Property.

If the form was initiated via an integration (either from an Integration Builder Inbound entry point or Integration Agent), then duplicating the Recipient information into a Property is easily done and would be able to be used in a Subscription form as well.

Wish I had better news for you, but there is an open enhancement request for this functionality that you organization is already on as a submitter.  I'm sure that once it has been scheduled your CSM will be in touch.

    Thank you,

    Jordan.

  • Hello,

Has there been any progress made on this? I just had a recent request from a manager looking to accomplish exactly this. They want to be notified based on "recipient" across ALL workflows/integrations. I don't see anything natively possible, currently, please confirm. Also, please advise on a workaround if available.
    Thanks!

  • Hey Christopher,

Can you tell us what types of workflows you are leveraging?

I ask because things like ServiceNow, the recipient is pulled from the Assignment Group field, so in this case you could simply subscribe where Assignment Group =...

At this time I cannot think of any global way of subscribing to events where a group is notified.

If you can tell us a use case, or why this is a request, we may be able to get the Product team to chime in.

On other though is something I did a long time ago, I put a 24x7 coverage in the group and added my email device to that coverage so I would get an email in parallel to the notification team, just be sure to not respond to any of these or you may stop the group escalations.

    thanks,
