We want to give a some users full developer access but only within a specific communication plan to alleviate the workload on our team. We don't want them to have the ability to edit all plan, just the ones we restrict them to. How can I restrict them?

Hey Neil, I think what you’re asking about is documented here. If that isn’t what you’re after, let me know.
No that's not it. Just tested that. The form permissions only determines who can access the form from a user perspective to initiate a message. It doesn't prevent developer access. Any user that I give developer role to can apparently still access and edit that form even if they do not have permission listed in the form permissions.
Hi Neil,
I know exactly what you mean but it's not something we currently support.
I do have a couple of other customer requests from this and it's on the list for future consideration.
Out of interest, how would you prefer to assign access to the different plans. Assign permissions to specific users, associate access permissions with roles or allow members of certain xMatters groups to edit a specific plan?
thanks, Iain

Good question Iain. For our needs it would be great to be able to assign permissions at the communication plan level so the developers in that plan can create, delete, modify forms completely without our intervention. I think what we're looking at is an expanded version of the Limited Developer role which prevents them from creating new plans and only accessing those they have access to. But that is more specific just to my needs.
Overall I can see the benefits of assigning permissions to an xMatters group. By giving that group 'developer' access to that communication plan, it gives them developer access without actually having to assign the role to each person in the group. I can see that overall being a better broad solutions. All you would need to do is maintain the group for who has access. It would make managing the permissions much easier than doing it at the individual level.
OK, that's great feedback. Thank you for the information.
If you're interested, the internal reference for this feature request is COR-3651.
As you are probably aware, we are currently investing heavily in our integration platform and tools which are part of the overall communication plan containers.
See this article for the most recent additions to the platform that are coming out with the Task Force X release.

I see this request as something related to this larger project and I will most likely will be the PM responsible to implementation. Feel free to get in touch anytime if you have any further questions or feedback.
