SIP - Is QoS required between the notification server and the SIP Gateway ?

Hello,

While xMatters research continues to ponder this one (it's been there for over a month), does anyone know if QoS is required between the notification server to the SIP gateway (in other words, does the network where the notification server is on need QoS enabled) ?

  • Hey John. I don't see any references to it in the Install/Admin guide so I'm going with no. Are you having quality issues with voice calls, or is this a general question?

  • Hello. Not really sure how to answer a question, but this is the only area I find, so here goes. The network we are on does not have QoS, so there was a concern from the team supporting SIP. They assume that it is, given that we are playing recording, but I could not find anything documented in the manuals. I'll go with no and see what happens. Thanks.
