Does xmattrs wait for user to say "hello" before responding voice calls.

Not Yet Reviewed

With dialogic cards , xmatters waits for user to say hello on the phone.

now when have configured SIP, it does not wait for user to say hello and starts reading the message.

Is this normal behavior for SIP voice calls.

  • It should be default behavior to wait until xMatters detects the user has said something before speaking the message. I have seen issues either with background noise or with a delay in the time it takes for the user to answer the phone to when they even get a chance to say anything.
Does this happen for all phone numbers you've tried, or just some?
What happens if you call the user's number from your desk phone or a cell phone? Do you hear any extended delays or a noise and then a delay?

  • Travis, This happens with all phone numbers. I have another setup with dialogic cards running, it does wait for user to say "hello" before speaking the message in that setup.

but in this setup, i am using SIP engine only , and i see that when xmatters calls the same number, it speaks the message immdly without any delay even before saying hello.

what else can i check, should i check with my voice team if its a config problem on their end, or could it be from xmatters config end..

  • Hmm, that could be either, but I'm not sure. I'd recommend opening a ticket with xM support so the support guys can review your settings and see about maybe getting your SIP folks to confirm things.
