  • Hey Rohit,
No, we do not increment for leap seconds. That would mean we are almost an entire day off two weeks before Feb 29th. I think incorporating leap seconds into computer applications would cause great confusion. Why do you ask? Do you have a specific need for this?

    Happy Monday!

  • Hi Rohit,

xM gets everything from OS. If OS can handle leap second correctly, xM should be fine.
In the most recent three occurrences, Jun. 30, 2012, Dec. 31, 2008 and Dec. 31, 2005 without issue.

  • Thank you Travis and Craig. Fidelity is looking into each vendor product and making sure the applications are leap second compliant.
Thank you Craig, that helps, we are making sure that the OS is leap second compliant.

  • Our systems require the use of NTP, which handles leap seconds and the insertion of time over the year. In the most recent occurrences, Jun. 30, 2012, Dec. 31, 2008 and Dec. 31, 2005 xMatters ran without issue.

Here are a few reference articles that explain how NTP handles leap seconds in greater detail:
