  • Jose! Man, you are pushing the boundaries of our APIs! I love it! Yea, we don't have a REST API for that, but we're building out that API as customer want/need it. Can you make a support request and formally ask for that functionality? It will get evaluated by product management and then put into the queue of requests. There are a few other things I'd like to see added to the REST API, but customers have way more sway over what gets in than little old me.

  • Hi Jose,

Thanks for getting in touch, I'm going to add this to our list of requested enhancements for the REST API.

    Watch this space!

  • I too am looking for a REST FindWhoisOnDuty equivalent. A year later, is it any closer to being a reality?

  • Hi Jason,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

We've been focussed on expanding our REST API and you can see the outcome of this taking shape here.

    https://help.xmatters.com/ondemand/api/xm-api/xmapi-introduction.htm

The effort was larger than initially expected and we've practically rebuilt the backend to our API from scratch in order to support the increased demand and usage we are seeing from customers as we continue to grow.

The specific web service you are looking for is an active project in our Engineering team, we currently expect the first Who Is On Duty REST web service to be available in production in April.

This service will take a group name or ID as an input and return the list of shifts and shift members that are on-call right now.

    Hope this helps, Iain

  • Hi Iain,

Sorry for the very delayed response. I thought I replied back in Feb. What brought me back here was I notice the new REST group calendar method. This is very handy and it is great to see movement around Who Is On Duty for the REST API.

I already have a Vendor Form in our dev Remedy system pulling in this data. What I noticed is it will only show the active on duty and doesn't accept parameters to return future on duties like the SOAP method. Are there plans to add a way to look into the future?

Not sure how feasible this is but it would be cool to be able to provide date ranges like the SOAP method as well as a parameter that would return the next xx duty changes. For a group that has a weekly rotation setting xx = 4 would show the next 4 weeks.

Of course this pretty straightforward for single shift groups and get much more complicated with multiple shifts. Maybe the shift should be a parameter too?

  • OH!!!! One thing that is missing from the new group calendar method is the escalationType. I think this is a very important data element to know if it is management escalation (we really haven't started using peer escalations).
